How to use the online notepad
A simple notepad for short notes and temporary text. No account or sign-in is needed.
Saving and privacy
- When you stop typing, the note is saved in this browser (localStorage). “Saved” appears only after saving has actually finished.
- Your note is never sent to a server. It stays only in this browser on this device.
- It is not visible on other devices or in other browsers. To move it, export a .txt file and import it there.
Deleting the saved note
- “Clear all” erases the note on screen and the note saved in the browser. Right afterwards you can undo once.
- You can also delete this site’s data under “Site data” or “Cookies and site data” in your browser settings.
- On a shared computer, press Clear all when you are done.
Limits
- A note can hold up to 1,000,000 characters.
- Importing supports only UTF-8 .txt files up to 5 MB.
- Saving may not work in private (incognito) mode or when storage is blocked. Your text stays on screen and an error is shown.
- If you open several tabs in the same browser, the most recently saved content wins.
- Clearing browser data or using a browser cleanup tool can remove the note, so export important text as .txt.
FAQ
Is my note sent to a server?
No. Your text is processed and stored only inside this browser and is never sent anywhere.
What format is the .txt file?
Plain UTF-8 text without a BOM; line breaks are kept as you typed them. When importing, line breaks are normalized to LF.
It says “Not saved”.
Browser storage is full or blocked. The text on screen is unchanged, so export it as .txt, then free up site data or reopen this page in a normal window.
