How to use text tools

Count characters in applications, emails, or notes, and remove repeated lines or unwanted whitespace.

  1. Type or paste the original text.
  2. Choose cleanup rules and review the preview.
  3. Apply changes to the original, or copy or download the result.

Example: Hello world Hello world

How are characters and words counted?

Characters are grapheme clusters: a combined emoji counts as one. Words are whitespace-separated groups, which may differ from linguistic words. Empty text has zero lines.

Is my original text saved?

Your text is never uploaded or persisted. Only named rules are stored in the browser. Applying rules, clearing text, and inserting a sample can be undone.

UTF-8 bytes are counted from the editor text. Browsers may normalize pasted CRLF line endings to LF. Duplicate matching is case-sensitive and keeps the first occurrence.
